Casual Engagements

If you have been a blog follower for awhile you will remember Nat & Steve from our wedding contest. They came in 2nd place. After a nice down poor of rain on Sunday we went out for some pics. The Sand Dunes in the counrty were renamed for the day as the Mud Dunes.

Even though it rained -- I think the photos turned out great :)

Same shot different look

Nothing much to say here, lol

Just in my yard photoing weeds at 2.8 RAW ...I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy :)
Two weeks ago I was pulled over by a police officer while driving my son to school for a burnt out headlight. Luckily I got a warning and not a ticket -- I didn't know it was out. So I went and boughta light bulb.

And, as a single mom I sometimes try and do things on my own -- just to try and show my son I can...except, I don't own any tools (yet) so we had to use his from a 'put a bird house together yourself' kit Here is my son at work -- taking over and being the man of the house. He is age nine.

So, we got everything off we needed to to change the light buld ourselves and then I realized that I had to take the battery out to get the light bulb out because I didn't have enough hand room. I needed another tool I didn't have and I'm not quite sure I would attempt to remove the battery. So, we put it all back together and took the car to the garage. We tried.

Totally different topic...

I cropped out his dirty socks but this pic was taken last night after school. He came home and crashed on the couch with a sunburn after track & field at school. He placed 1st in a long distance race with 45 others in the race. I'm so proud. He once got a B+ in gym and I was trying to figure out why he didn't get an A, lol. I work in a gym as an Aerobics Instructor so he sometimes has to take my classes weather it be Aqua Fit, Step Class or Weights so h does keep fit. His head rests on his fav. pillow which he will not put a pillow case on for some reason. I tried once and he just took it off.

Whoo hoo Tagged Again...

... this time by Angela

Listing my five favourite things:

1. Being a mom: hockey, hair coloring, driving to school, bike rides, answering questions, taking him to friends houses, watching him grow, answering all kinds of questions, seeing his first crush, working out in the gym together, watching him smile, getting his towel for him as he always forgets it before he goes into the shower, watching him lock the door every night because I can't figure out the push the handle in and turn technique, him asking for a brother, watching movies, going to games, skipping, hiking and getting lost.....the list goes on

2. Family BBQ's on the farm after chores and cooking in bare feet

3. My girlfriends/family -- I love them all & love girl time

4. Photography -- weddings, maternity, newborns, families...love working with people but I also like the real estate work where my subjects don't move and all I have to do is light them :) I also like listening to brides fill me in on thier wedding plans; I just love thier excitment. And, I love photographing stages of lives like, engagements, to the wedding, onto maternity, then the new born pics and then family pics -- it's awesome!

5. Reading on human behavior, photography and fitness -- I love learning. Human behavior because it helps me to better understand people, actions, myself, reactions, misunderstandings, relationships and parenting. Photography because I never want to stop learning in this biz and I only hope to get better every year (so far so good). Fitness because it's my second job; I love helping others to improve their health and I love when clients in the gym tell me stories about how much weight they are losing.

And, I really like Ice Caps, lol

Bridal Show

Melissa and I were in a bridal show not to long ago in Wellington at Fields on West Lake. So far every bridal show I have been to this year has been on a Sunday and I have been photographing late night weddings in Toronto so I get home late, sleep for a bit and then up early and on the road to set up. At our table in the picture is a guy checking out our story albums we design. It's amazing how new these albums are to so many people.
Melissa, I never noticed how much taller you are then me. It really shows in this pic.

May 20th wedding

Yesterdays wedding asked me not to blog any pics of them as the mother of the bride would not approve. So here are two details pics of the day. Luckily the rain held off for this outdoor ceremony. The wedding was small with only a few close freinds, family and several dogs -- yup several dogs. It was adorable the bowls of water and snacks provided for all the furry friends.

May 12th Wedding

Married May 12th -- Mandy & Steve

The girls were a blast and I really think we can make a whole photo album just on them with all the great pics we have - the men were easy to photo and up for anything - and it was just the wedding party and myself at the park for photos so we had lots of time for great photos without any interruptions. This wedding was so much fun! I can't wait to show off the album when Mandy and Steve come back from their honeymoon :)

4 months

These are Natalie's teaser photos until she get her disk -- which is on it's way tomorrow :)
We do have lots of smily photos, but these are just a few of my favorites.
Baby is now 4 months. I saw him first when he was 4 weeks and he will be back in just two months for his 6 months photos which is really a great age to photo at. I'm looking forward to it.

I did totally flop on my 12 of 12 on Saturday. But I did realize how wedding focused I am when I'm shooting a wedding. So, my mind was completely wedding focused that I didn't get my 12 of 12 done. From the moment I get up on the day of a wedding, I get myself ready, check my gear, feed myself, stop at Tim's for an Ice Cap, and I'm out the door for the day.

So, no 12 of 12 this month -- was taken over by a great wedding which I'll share after I work my way through the photos. I thought I could photo a wedding and my 12 of 12 on the same day but I'm really to wedding focused...not a bad thing I guess :)

But, today I'll share this assignment, and I got this idea from About & Out. Using my macro I opened up all the way, (f/2.8) stuck my lens in something and took the pic.
