In the Toronto Star

I photographed Jennifer and James Speedy as they were married last year at the Warring House here in Picton and tell their story HERE in the Toronto Star. The story came out on Saturday but it's been a busy weekend so I'm sharing now. You may recognize the bridal image as my own as it's one of the poses I try to get at most weddings.

Just Mr. R

Mr. R came in early for a photo session to get a few solo photos and some of him and just his Nana
I know, isn't he adorable?!!

I'll post the rest of the family tomorrow

I have a new body!

Camera body that is :D

...and just in time for the wedding season!

It's always important when going to a wedding to have an extra camera body or two as you never know when electronics may fail on you. There have been a few times I get that dreaded 'ERROR 99' while photographing a wedding. However, I always have 3-4 camera bodies on me at a wedding and usually just two when in the studio. Why so many? Why not just 2 at a wedding? Well, I use a variety of lenses and instead of changing lenses I just pull out the body with the lens I would like to use on it. This saves time...and gives me an excuse to buy another body.

I have more fun shopping for camera gear then I do shoes, clothing or other things women like to buy.

Studio Sessions to Slideshows

This family was in last week with their 3 month old! She was full of expressions as you will see form the images.

Since then I have spent $900 in studio props! :D Victoria (mom here) gave me some advice on where to get some studio props and I haven't been able to stop spending since. So new fun and beautiful props are arriving at the studio for the next few weeks!

Slideshows will now be included with studio images that I share on the blog as it's a safer way of sharing images to avoid theft.

Quick Update

1. I'm starting to book up with engagement sessions now that the weather is getting nicer. If you haven't booked your engagement session yet and your wedding is this year then be sure to do so soon so we can get a date that works for you.

2. Next month I'll have help in the studio for editing studio sessions only while I work on engagements and weddings, as everything is edited and the ladies that help out in the studio are fantastic as some of you know and have met.

3. Last year I photographed exactly 40 weddings. It was a very busy year with the weddings and the studio running full time. I'm not going to book 40 weddings this year so I am completely booked from May-Oct and will not be booking any more weddings in those months of this year. November and December still have some dates left as it's a slower time of year.

4. As some of you know I am no longer posting images of babies and children form the studio for two reasons.

a) A local photographer keeps copying my images and posting them on her blog. I'll blog the comparison at a later date with my images and her copied images.

b) A local corporation used two of my images in a promotion flyer without my permission. Images are not to be copied or used without my permission. I'll also talk more about this issue later.

That's all for now!

Another Florida Model

Above is my friend Heather posing for us to test out light metering -- all looks good!
So, we start with our model

He was fun to work with. He has a few years of modeling experience and was at the convention just to update his portfolio

We got him a female model to pose with. This is another case of where they don't know one another.

New Model!

Becky is a very new model -- new like this was her first day!

She was shooting with one of the coaches, my friend Heather and I peeked our heads around some bushes to see what was going on, Becky saw us and started laughing and then the coach asked if we wanted to shot as well.

Here are just a few images of what we got

He is gorgeous...what more can I say?!!

I just love the way he looks at the camera

I realized after working with this model that photographing men is something I wish I had more of
