WORK

- I photographed my first wedding of the year on Saturday :) I know the couple from photographing them in studio since I moved the studio to Picton. Here is my favorite image of the day:

- the workshops I'm hosting are booking up nicely. I'm so excited to grow into instructing photography. Suggestions have been made for other classes that others are interested in so I'm taking everyones ideas into new classes. Here is the link

- the blog is coming along and will hopefully be up this week. Did I say that last week??! lol It's been a busy week!

- Natasha had her last day of co-op with the studio on Friday and her first day of work with the studio on Saturday. She watched the wedding booth at the bridal show while I was photographing the Post wedding

- Since I was sitting in the bridal show all day Sunday I have to Post wedding complete and will share as soon as I get the slideshow together

- the bridal show went well. It was great to see some friends, clients, other photographers and new brides. Sitting in a mall for three days is were to be for the latest gossip! I always learn so much about my clients from the shoppers. It was great to see how many mall shoppers stopped by the both because they recognized my work. One lady knew me as Janet's sister, another as Bradley's mom and the rest knew me as Jenna Simpson. I had two sides to my booth, so sitting on one side I could here the shoppers talking on the other side about me, who I photographed, and making oshs and ahs over the images they were looking at.

- I also learnt how many people look forward to Gossip Monday :)

- I now have three days of phone calls and emails to catch up on since I didn't have internet or very good service at the bridal show

HOME

- I spent the weekend in Belleville to avoid driving back and forth for the show so it's great to be home for the first time in a few days. I'm having a really slow Monday morning and I'm out of sugar so my morning tea just isn't the same.

PERSONAL

- My 101 things to do in 1001 days list is coming along. #1 - I have encouraged more than 20 people to make a list -- YAY! #19 - I have been great at keeping my email box close to empty. I'm not so great with Facebook messages. #24 - the Lost series I am on season 3. This is great for not bringing my work home with me, lol. #30 - I'm still updating the website. I think I'll add a few more wedding images but all the images I had wanted to remove are down and ready for new ones. I'm probably uploaded 150 new images in the past week. #34 - I've donated to one auction, two more to go. #59 - I've been working 6 days a week instead of seven. I take Saturdays off and if that doesn't work I take Mondays off. #68 - My new hobby is decorating. To bad it's such an expensive hobby!

WORK

- The Ramada Bridal show yesterday was fantastic. Here is a picture of my display booth:

- this weekend I'll be at the Quinte Mall Bridal Show from Friday - Sunday with a bigger display so come check it out!

- After years of people asking if I will teach photography and years of me saying "no thanks" I've decided that I am ready. Workshops will run throughout the year and change as we feel needed.

HOME

- I am loving my Saturdays! This past Saturday my son had three friends over for the night. Besides the massive mess that was left in my kitchen I love a house full of kids. The boys are great and mostly play video games or walk around town.

- So, I'm a bit addicted to the lost series. Remember on my 101 I wanted to watch the series. Well, it's only a few weeks since I posted the list and I am on season 3!

This Sunday, January 17th, I'll be at the Ramada Inn Bridal Fair and Fashion Show. The show runs from 10am-4pm

There will be over 50 local vendors at the show as well as a bridal show hosted by Dresses & Dreams and Tip Top Tailors. Also, the show is once again partnering up with the Canadian Cancer Society for their "Running of the Brides". This is wear brides have donated their wedding dresses to the Canadian Cancer Society to be sold at the show for a minimum of 50% off the retail price.

WORK

- I'm about half way through updating the website. I have a lot of old images on there I am trying to update with newer photos. It's difficult to take down older photos because some of them have stories for me. The groom that survived cancer, I can't replace the image. The kids I photographed the day before their dad left for tour, I can't replace the image. A lot of the images I take have stories behind them that I keep with me. So, I have all the photos down that I would like not I just have to make time next week to get the new images up

- Upcoming bridal shows: The Ramada Bridal Show is January 17th and I'll be there. The following weekend is the Quinte Mall Bridal Show from Jan 29-31. I have a wedding on the Saturday of the show but I'll have someone at the table to answer your questions.

- Starting next month we'll have Abut Image Photography classes covering topics such as: business, basic shooting, posing, etc.

HOME

- The redecorating has been going well at home. I picked a new paint color for my bedroom, changed the curtains in two rooms...I hung up one photo in one room. I still have a long way to go.

- My son and I have ben watching lost together for the last weeks or so. It was on my 101 things to do and he can't help but to become interested while it's on. I'm a bit addicted to the series.

PERSONAL

- So Canadian Winter! Brrrr! I've been staying in as much as I can. I'm not a fan of the winter. I haven't been out snowboarding at all this year.

- I'm working on getting my list of 101 things complete and I'm excited to see what everyone else is writing for their lists :)

101 things to do in 1001 days -- 2010

I did this 3 years ago in 2007 and finished 68 of my 1001 things to do. It's interesting to take a look back and see how my goals have changed. There are things on the 2007 list that I no longer have interest in and new things on this list that I use to not have an interest in. There are also many things listed where I can look back and know how much I've learnt from certain things listed.

I've read so much more after making the 2007 list. I paid off huge amounts of debt. My business has grown a great deal. A lot has happened in the last 3yrs. So, I look forward to the next three years and looking back again to my 2010 list.

I'm hoping many of you will be able to help me out with #1. Let me know if you start your own list and if you are willing to share I'd love to read it. You can even start your own blog on accomplishing a list like this, many others have. Check out PROJECT ZERO to help get you started. And feel free to use some of my goals if you have the same goals. It's a very cool to sit here and think of all the exciting things I've done this past year with About Image Photography, the number of families I have photographed, places I have traveled to, staff we've gained, things purchased, and experienced over the course of 2009. For those of you that are regular followers here and on Facebook you've witnessed first hand how crazy busy this year was.

I anxiously look forward to what I can do in 2010. I have some exciting things that will be launching this year:

- a whole new blog

- the red session

- wedding websites for couples

- new portrait products and packages

- studio workshops for photographers

- a photographers FAQ

Along with that I'll be attending several photography conventions and workshops while continuing to push myself creatively. I've come up with lots of new and fun ideas that I look forward to introducing in 2010.

A look back at 2009 would not be complete without a big thanks to all our amazing clients that allow us to play such an important part in their wedding day or capture their growing families

Sorry! I forgot to post next weeks theme. Thanks for the reminder Jess. It's been so busy. I was in bed by 3am last night thinking it was Saturday and that I missed the post for the contest as I am to do it on Fridays so I couldn't sleep thinking how disappointed people might be. I may need to consider getting more sleep in my routine so I know what day it is, lol

WORK

- Here's a video from today. Christa was collecting all my Iced Cap cups to recycle. I admit I am not very good at recycling or picking up my old cups. Christa didn't know I was videoing her here....she totally makes me laugh

HOME

- we still have our tree up and I'm loving it. I just love the smell of it. My son got a Wii and a lot of money for Christmas

- I was totally spoiled for Christmas by friends, family and clients -- thanks again to everyone

PERSONAL

- I read three books this week as I had two days off work. It was nice to catch up on some reading. I read a lot and plan on finishing another book this week. I joined a book club last week. I only read non-fiction. Mostly: human behavior, business, finances, parenting and fitness. The three books I read this week were all on human behavior. My current book is on parenting.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Today we start the voting on our first For the LOVE of Photography contest. The theme this week is: love. We asked you to send us your favourite photos of loved ones. Here are the image that came to us:

#7: "my grandparents during the christmas holidays 2007. This was a very happy christmas for all of my family as my uncle who lives in B.C. had came back home for the first christmas since I was 5 ( 2007= me at 21) The entire family was together again and there was nothing that would make this christmas any better. Unfortunately, this was the last christmas my grandparents shared together as my grandpa died instantly on sept.16,2008 when a tree he was cutting snapped the wrong way and fell onto him crushing him. My grandparents loved eachother very much, they had cute pet names for eachother , my grandma was Baby doll and my grandpa was elmer... they were an amazing couple and they always put smiles on my face just watching how happy they were , this picture resembles love to me because everytime I look at it I can feel all the love and happiness just the same as I did the day I captured the love they shared." -- Jessica

WORK
- Every week we will be holding a photo contest (as seen below). The photo contests will range from a vairety of ideas: family, babies, kids and sports...the list goes on and on. We start the contest every Monday and announce the winner the following Monday.
- We are working away to get the weekend sessions out for tomorrow. Christa edited over 1700 images today

- we had to reschedule all sessions today due to lighting problems. It only took me all day to figure out a way to fix it and we are back on track for tomorrow. I'm excited to shoot with our new and improved system!

- Starting in January I have Saturdays off :) I work 7 days a week but soon down to 6

- The Olympic Torch went by the studio this past Tuesday. Here is the video:

HOME

- I haven't started Christmas shopping yet. I plan on getting it all done Wednesday evening. Is anyone else as slow as I am to get to these things?!! Besides that, I don't even know what to get my son. I feel like he has everything.

PERSONAL

- I still have my cough. It will be 10 weeks on Saturday. The cough medicine I have is powerful but doesn't help with the cough

- I saw the Nutcracker Ballet Saturday evening in Belleville.

- Sunday I saw 'The Blind Side' movie. It was a great movie

When Christa and I first saw this video we were both in tears and then on the iCal checking to see if we could take part in this. I don't want to say unfortunately but we book up 1.5-2 months in advance over the holidays so we were unable to take part in this today.
