Celebrity Faces

This was interesting so I thought I would try it with two different photos. Both photos were taken by my friend/photographer Gerri Wetherbee. My first results are:

And, my second results dressed way down from the first one:

Do I really look like Shirley Temple???

She's having a baby

What's very fun is photographing an engagement, and then the wedding, and then the maternity photos -- right to family photos. I have a friend that named her biz Stages Photography just for this reason.

This is the first time I've ben sent ultrasound photo. I just love it! This photo came from Nat & Jay who were married in June. I obviously did not take this photo but Nat has given me permission to share it here. Ultrasound photos are definitely among the most precious photos...with out a doubt.

I just wanted to share it here because I love, love, love the photo and loved that Nat also thought to send it to me.

Here's Nat & Jay from their engagement session

And here they are on thier wedding day

I'll be seeing them again in January for maternity photos.

Thanks for sharing the photo Nat!!!

Quinte Pediatrics 2007 Calendar

Smiling faces???

A local Collage has asked me to supply some photographs of smiling faces for some advertising work, displays, website, and brochures.

So, just a heads up out there to my models over the last few years--I may be contacting you asking for permission to use your photo.

Congratulations Saundra & Tai

It's always exciting when friends get engaged!

I just want to congratulate my friends of 6 years Saundra and Tai on their engagement.

Tai flew Saundra to New York with 24hrs notice and proposed to her at midnight on Staten Island. How romantic!

The guest list is looking at 400-700 right now. What a party!

I'm so happy for you two. :)

Digital Photography Book Launch

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Henry Christiansen and Robert Kwan at their 'Digital Photography Instruction" book launch in Belleville's Chapters.
I've seen Christiansen's work around as he has won photo competitions in our own area here. It was great talking to him and without getting into to many details he saved me about $4000 today. :) He is so full of knowledge and shared with me some great tips on photography, equipment and software. Oh, and he is a photographer instructor at Loyalist College in Bancroft.
'The goal of Digital Photography Instruction is to give the beginner and intermediate level photographers a simple and easy path to create better pictures'
In my own words...the book is very informative. I've taken a ton of classes on digital photographey over the last 8 years and I'm reading things in this book like very interesting effects and even tips that will speed up my work flow. Any pro is looking for workflow tips...I just know it!!!
To any beginner in photography--this is a great book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. To all you pros like me that still take an interest in knowledge because you know you can never learn enough--great for new ideas and even things we might have missed before.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Thankgiving in our home today. Yes, I'm Canadian but we also celebrate American Thanksgiving. We also celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. Today we put up 5 Christmas trees and I think we have two more to go...almost one for every room. Our Christmas decorations go up on American Thanksgiving. Besides that I've been tracking parcels and uploading wedding photos to my lab today that will be picked up and delivered to the bride tomorrow before she heads off on her honeymoon.

Here are a few Thanksgiving jokes. Happy Thanksgiving!

What kind of keys do not open doors?
- Tur"keys"

Who is not hungry on Thanksgiving day?
- The turkey, because he is already stuffed

Which side of the turkey has the most feather?
- the outside

Why are the cranberries so red?
- They were embarrased to see the turkeys dressing

What do you get if you cross a turkey and a banjo?
- A turkey that plucks himself

Colborne Cobras OHA JR "C"

Meet the Colborne Cobras OHA Jr "C" Hockey Team - played out of the Keeler Centre in Colborne and comprised of players from Port Hope, cobourg, Colborne, Brighton and Belleville.

Kelly VanBuren had asked me to come in and take a group photo of the team. Notice the smiles on their faces??? Yes, they can smile for the camera but really the smiles are about winning the game they just played. Way to go guys!

Some of the best getting ready photos...
Mom to the rescue
A tear in the bridesmaid dress.Look at the team work here!!! GO TEAM GO!

Now we move onto photos. Let the fun begin! Or so we think.......
The park police show up and try to kick us out...ummm, for the second time. LOL! The first time we ignored them because we thought we had permission. Well, we did have permission...just not from the people in charge, but we didn't know that.
To be cont'd....
Here is are park police. Her identity is covered by the phone and side profile photo. ;) I don't know who she called but it was someone else in park police and the discussion was our fine for not leaving the property if we chose to do so with our second warning. So, then it was dads turn to come to the rescue with his credit card and he paid the amount charged for us to photo on the grounds. Yeah dad!!!
back to photo taking.....
After the ceremony we started to lose light :( But if you read the post from a few weeks ago that didn't stop us because we ended up with over 2300 photos :)

That's it for now Tawnya. The rest you'll see in your album. :)

Update

I've had a few sessions in my unfinished studio. The ceiling is not dry walled and the building is not properly insulated....so on and so on. And for those that have been in the studio I have told them I'll send them a photo when the studio is finally finished. You know, a before and after kind of thing. Well, in 2-3 weeks I'll have that photo ready for you. The guys start construction on Tuesday and estimate 3 weeks at most. Yeah!!!

I'm still a bit behind in posting photo sessions. Lately my time has been spent on story albums. I still want to chat about three weddings including the "I do....Let's Eat" wedding. What a blast that was! Photo friend Gerri and I took a great class together with a Master Photographer and I have some really great photos from class to share as well as a fun story about the the kids in the candy store.

Photo Break....

I did this just for fun. You'll all probably be seeing a lot more photo break work as the winter months drag out.

Family Fun

I Had a lot of fun with family from the first phone call to to arrange our get together. Cheryl left me a message for family photos and when I called back one of her son answered the phone and told me I must be mistaken because they were not that kind of family. LOL!!! So I left it as that until Cheryl got back to me...we had a good laugh about the mistake.

Dad & Son

Engaged and Expecting!!!!

I Do...Let's Eat

Today is the day! The wedding I'm photographing today will be aired on the Food Network on a show called 'I do...Let's eat'. Here is the link: http://www.foodtv.ca/microsites/idoletseat/

After readying the description of the show I'm wondering if they self induce drama and how much drama there will be. Here's what the website says:

I Do…Let’s Eat! Is a documentary series showcasing the nuptial cuisine of diverse cultures. Each episode features one couple’s wedding and banquet, the chef that prepares it, and the demands and pressures which they all face leading up to and including the main event. The chef knows this is a referral business based on the events of one emotional roller coaster of a day! Food is never more central, or more scrutinized, than at a wedding banquet. For the bride and groom, this is the day they start their lives together, and of course, they want it to be perfect! Will it be?

It will be interesting to see how this all runs.

The guys have a yellow Corvette that I'll be photographing before the ceremony.....it's November and there is snow on the ground. I'm bringing my gloves :) and maybe a scarf. Full hair and make up of course for the females by the shows make-up team.

I had to sign a release to the show that the they may use some of my photos and for the purpose of my name being placed with the photos as the photographer on the show. It takes about six months for the show to air from filming date.

Should be a blast!

Todays task..deliver school photos

Now, this is just my opinion but I believe that my son goes to the best school in the area. Goodwin Learning Center is located between Trenton & Brighton which is about 35min from where I now live. From grades JK to 8 the school educates 45 students.

In photographing the children and looking at their photos now there is a great confidence in the children that shows through their photos. It’s really impressing and I wish I could post them but am unable to do so without parent permission. However I can post a photo of my own son:

And one of Furgus

Is this not one of the cutest dogs ever?!!

If any parents have any questions about the photos feel free to email me.
